Labelify now offers downloadable front-of-package (FOP) symbols for our users. These symbols, which will become mandatory on certain prepackaged foods in Canada starting January 1, 2026, aim to help consumers make more informed dietary choices at a glance.
What are front-of-package nutrition symbols?
Front-of-package symbols are standardized icons displayed on the front of food packaging to indicate the presence of high levels of nutrients that are of public health concern, such as sodium, sugars, and saturated fat. These symbols are intended to be simple and easy to understand, allowing consumers to quickly assess whether a product contains higher-than-recommended levels of these nutrients.
You can find more information on the Government of Canada’s website.

Which products are affected?
Not all products will require front-of-package symbols. In general, affected products are prepackaged foods that exceed 15% of the daily recommended value for sodium, sugars, or saturated fat content.
For instance, items like sugary cereals, salty snacks, and high-fat processed foods are likely to display these symbols. However, certain categories, such as raw single-ingredient foods (like fresh fruits and vegetables), milk, and certain prepared meals, are exempt from this requirement.
How Labelify can help
